Spring Auction 2008
Dear Friend of Salem Public Schools,
We would like to thank all those who helped to make our 2008 Spring Fundraising Auction in April a tremendous success. The generous sponsorships made by community groups and business organizations such as your self helped us to raise over $45,000. As you are aware, this money goes to fund projects that further students’ educational experiences in science, mathematics, the arts and humanities.
In May of this year, we hosted our annual Grant Awards Ceremony at Salem High School. This extraordiany event provided the venue for the Foundation’s Board Members to award 56 creative and innovative grant proposals to Salem teachers, totaling over $32,000.00. Here’s a sampling of some of the selected proposals: Music Makes a Difference, Sharing Salem, Rocket Challenge, Plimouth Plantation, Math in Weaving, The Art of Printmaker, Bringing Reader’s Theatre Alive, Yankees and Immigrants, Understanding Our City, Our School and Ourselves, Every Child Ready to Read, Learning to Undo Racism.
Your sponsorship and donations are especially important in these financially challenging times. We welcome volunteers to support our work, either through Board membership or on special projects, please encourage anyone you know who may be interested to contact us directly.
